Boeing Space Satellites

Organization: Boeing Space
Role: Space Electronics & Mechanical Product Design Engineer
Dates: Aug 2024 – Present

Tasks

● Responsible for the mechanical design, integration, and production support of spacecraft control electronics
● Design and route printed circuit boards
● Manage multi-hundred-item bills of materials for space-qualified hardware
● Lead and analyze tests of flight hardware
● Design tools to assist production and evaluation
● Filled in as acting production support lead during the two-week absence of both the team lead and supervisor

Actions

● Worked with electrical and system engineers to integrate flight electronics
● Designed and routed PCBs
● Created multiple tools to increase production and evaluation efficiency
● Designed PCB chassis/mounts accounting for mass, thermal, and shock constraints
● Inspected large, $500,000 PCBs for build and quality defects
● Volunteered weekend hours to help an adjacent team integrate multiple PCBs on deadline
● Coordinated engineers and technicians to address production line issues as they arose
● Conducted in-depth, multi-hour reviews of millions of dollars' worth of flight hardware

Results

● Serve as Responsible Engineering Authority for Preliminary Reviews of flight hardware
● Developed integration solutions to meet electrical, thermal, and spatial constraints
● Built multiple PCBs with 1000+ traces under restrictive design requirements
● Integrated 10 flight-ready PCBs used in cutting edge aerospace projects
● Identified and dispositioned multiple flight hardware issues by diagnosing defects and recommending corrective actions
● Recognized by team lead for maintaining production schedule and quality under elevated demand
